I have a dd 9512h supercharged in 2.5 cubes tuned to 35hz on a dd m3. the problem is its not loud enough for me, the guy at the shop that installed it and built my box thinks its super loud, but i want louder. my question is, if i went to a fi sp4 15 would it be noticeably louder? I know if have more cone area. i just want a super loud daily driver, i won't be competing or anything. all help would be appreciated thanks
pretty much louder everywhere. it's in a o8 acura tl-s i have all the electrical upgrades the shop recommended with the kinetiks and stuff and I'm willing to upgrade my electrical even more if i need to for the sp4 if it gets alot louder. i pretty much just listen to rap/hip-hop type music
I'm fairly certain in the right box the sp4 should be louder. But stranger things have happened. Anyways when you say louder, it really hard to define. You might have a box right now that peaks really hard on one note. At one frequency it's really loud, which might not be perceived as "loud" since it's only "loud" on a few songs. On the other hand you might have something that doesn't have a large peak, it has a wide bandwidth. It might seem louder on music, even though in an SPL comp it might read lower at it's peak vs the peak of the other box. In this case I'm pretty sure the SP4 15 should be able to get you a less peaky output, which might sounds louder. And due to the extra cone area it'll probably also keep up in peak spl anyways. But it's going to require a larger box than the 12. So keep that in mind. This won't be a drop in replacement. You'll probably want to use 3-4 cu ft tuned to the mid 30s.
