Default Sub suggestion under $200

Hey All,

I was in a rush to buy subs so I went to Best Buy and got 2 Pioneer TS-W304r's at just about under $200. I got ripped off, but I was going crazy sub-less with only Best Buy open late at night.

They don't make these Pioneers like they used to, I had a badass pair of TS-W306's that were LOUD and DEEP very many years ago, these new Pioneer subs SUCK.

I would like to return these subs and buy a normal good pair of subs off Ebay.

With a 1600w amp, what subs would you suggest I check out that get nice and deep for about $200?

Thanks in advance!

id suggest a better amp cuz with your current amp you would have to stick with single 4 ohm subs or dual 2 ohm subs .....it is a 2 channel and is rated for 400rms @ 2 ohm bridged...but if you want to stick with this amp id suggest a pair of kicker comp 12's they would better suit your Power level get single 4 ohm subs

o one question i forgot to ask is are you goijng for sound quality or just strait bass or a mix of both?....btw if you would come up with 220$ that would get you a pair of sundown e 12's shipped on ebay but you will need to upgrade your amp....

Hey KickinBlazer,

Back then I was a fan of SQL, but now I'm looking for straight bass, the kind where you would hear me before you see me. Bass you feel in your chest.

Thanks!

that's going to be hard to do with a set of subs for under 200 bucks. Black07g5 is selling a single hdc3 18 might be a little over budget but would get you dat bass!

Default Re: Sub suggestion under $200

best bet is to go on caco and look in the used section... cheapest you could go reliably would be type r's(280$) oa's(280$+S&H)

but even on caco 200 is really low for a pair. i personally recomend getting another 100 and goin with the r's or oa's or go with a single sa-15

if you absolutely bent on 200$ and not saving up another 100 then kicker cvr's come to mind... they do get loud but be gentle on the power, they dont like more than rated. and they will run around 190$

Hey All,

I am going to go with the Alpine Type-R's, for sure. $260 shipped.

I am also going to upgrade my amp, the Autotek M4000.1D caught my attention.

Do you think I should go with this amp with the R's?

If not the Autotek any suggestions? I'd really like a decent amp under $160.

great choice on subs type r's are prob the number 1 mainstream subs. i cant say much about that amp. im sure thats better than that audiophonics amp though...

if i may throw some suggestions out there though...

and if you can spend another 40 this is my highly suggested amp
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...RZ1700.1D.html

the reason i am suggesting hifonics is due to price/performance ratio. they do close to there rated give or take a 100watts, although i ONLY have experience with the brz series and that cheap line next to brz that i cant remember atm =P

you cannot compare r's to x's... they are well known to be a completely different sub with r's being the louder of the 2.

Hifonics BRX1200.1D Brutus 1200W RMS Class D Monoblock Amp (BRX-1200.1D)
Hifonics ZRX1500.1D 1500W Max Monoblock Class D Zeus Car Amp
Hifonics BRX1100.1D 1100W RMS Class D Monoblock Brutus Series Amp

and if you can spend another 40 this is my highly suggested amp
Hifonics Brutus BRZ 1700.1D (BRZ17001.D) Class D Mono Car Amplifier

the reason i am suggesting hifonics is due to price/performance ratio. they do close to there rated give or take a 100watts, although i ONLY have experience with the brz series and that cheap line next to brz that i cant remember atm =P

you cannot compare r's to x's... they are well known to be a completely different sub with r's being the louder of the 2.
I can appreciate that but it is noy so much the loudness it is the cheap ass parts they use.

Default Re: Sub suggestion under $200

I've never owned any amp's for Maxxsonic's Hifonics/Autotek, etc.. but I always heard they did close to what they were rated and a lot of people had them. A go-to amp pretty much.

I will defiantly look into those amps.

Will also upgrade my wiring to Kicker Hyper Flex 4g for this.

Question, will my stock battery handle anything over 1000w? If not, I don't know any shops that have knowledge of the Big 3.

If you are planning on running any system at all then you should definitely do the big 3 in 1/0 because it helps so much. Its extremely easy to do the big 3 and you shouldn't have any problem doing it yourself. You can always ask all the questions you need to on the forum and we will help.

If not the Autotek any suggestions? I'd really like a decent amp under $160.
that amp is a maxxsonics product and that amp will basicly do up to 1400rms at 1 ohm....its rated for 2000rms at 1 ohm but it wont do it...so do big 3 in OFC 1/0 and run some good 4g to amp but dont push it very hard since you dont have the electrical to suport that kind of wattage

For sure I won't be upgrading my electrical anytime soon, but other than the Big 3 and a new Alternator are there any other options?

its highly suggested to atleast get a agm battery. they will cost you the same as a wet cell basically. just go to orielly's and get there agm battery. i paid 110 for mine. i think mine is a 34, though i cant even remember as i never open my trunk =P that agm alone will help immensely. i was dropping below 12.4 before i upgraded to agm's after i put the spv70 in i went well above 13. i then added the oriellys in the trunk. tbh that didnt offer higher voltage, it just made it a little more stable.

Update:

Guys I bought a pair of Pioneer TS-W310D4's and these things pound, exactly the sound I was looking for!

Now that I got the subs I have a question, I am really tempted to buy the Autotek M4000.1D but I am worried it will over power and eventually blow my subs.... If I set all bass boosts/levels down, would this amp go fine with my subs?

You should never use bass boost if you want to keep the output stage of the amp potentially flat.

A properly setup amp uses no bass boost as it's really useless.
Proper gain setting would force bass boost to clip a narrow range of frequencies at set volume.

At the same time, even a 20,000w amp can be ran on your subs. It's how everything is setup.

IF you drive more than recommended power to your subs, you risk thermal\mechanical failure. IF you do not know how to detect this then do not purchase an amplifier larger than what the subs are rated for.

Also, if those subs use Pioneer's air spring suspension technology then they will not like a lot of power anyways mechanically speaking.
They would have to be placed in an extremely small enclosure to compensate which would net a much more narrowed play range and guarantee a massive ripple in response.
IE- very peaky at that point.
