you could do 2 10's then and that would be around the box size of a large single 12 box

ok but think about this that battery and wire plus a meaner more exspencive sub and a propper box Build its not cheap....meanwhile you could keep poer around 800rms and you have options....your choice....stay in little leagues or step up to minor leagues

I hear ya on that. my friend was going to help me build a custom box for the sub if i do decide to step up to minor leagues. Were those 2 opr=tions of yours something youd recommend with that AP amp? the 2 12"s or the 3 10"s.

Last questions for tonight.
1)what would happen if I attempted to run that 1500w at 1 ohm in my car?
2) Alternator puts out 125 Amps does that boost my up closer to minor leagues more power an amp I can go passed 800?

1) you would most likely either smoke the alternator ,battery, amp, sub's or all of them
2)Even with your alternator at 125 amps and a standard wet cell battery it's only good for maybe 800 to 900,watts before you start to get lights dimming and straining your electrical system

For 1000 watts I'd get 2 10's more cone area then 1 12 and you can still get down pretty good with them also look at the sd line from sundown very nice subs and budget friendly and 2 of those would love 800 - 1000 watts

I'd say go get either 2 kicker or rockford 12's they typically take 400 rms each and put em in a custom box (you might have to build it yourself to stay in budget idk), and put 800rms to them total. That's about as good as you're going to get with that budget. It will still do you well though.

Kicker has a pre-made box with 2 12s in it for about 400$ (google Kicker 2 12s loaded box or something). Then get an amp for about 100 - 150$ that's rated around 800 - 1200 rms.

Them kicker premade boxes are tuned a little to high..and he's not wanting to take up a wholeot of space in trunk....he's got a single 12 ported right now he wants more but not bigger

Basically there's 3 ways of getting louder: 1, more power. 2, more cone area. 3, bigger enclosure.

#1 will require upgrading your electrical with a higher output alternator and/or more batteries. This is always the most expensive option as you have to pay for the alt, batts and bigger amps. The gain is usually 3db when the power is doubled. 3db is believed to be "twice as loud", but to human hearing it's more like 5-10db.
#2 is second in cost as you need more subs and another larger enclosure to run them in, and the gain is marginal. Doubling cone area will gain around 3db usually if all things are equal; same power, same subs etc.
#3 is cheapest as all you need to pay for is the materials to build a new box.

Sealed boxes are the quietest of all enclosures (with the exception of infinite baffle), the bonus being they have good response over a large bandwidth.
Going to a ported enclosure will gain you a good bit of SPL, but you need another 40-60% air space. The drawback of ported over sealed is a drop in bandwidth to boost a smaller range of frequencies.
Using a 4th order enclosure gives you the best of ported and sealed, having a good bandwidth response and better SPL than ported. The drawback with 4th's is they need more space, usually the volume of both ported and sealed combined.

Personally, were I in your situation, I'd get a refurbished Sundown X12 in a 4th order on a PPI1800. Watching a voltmeter I'd adjust the gain until it starts to strain the system and back it off a bit. Then at a later date upgrade the front battery to a decent AGM and readjust the gain. When money allows again, put another AGM in the rear or keep an eye open for a used HO alt for around $200.

Yeah I agree but it was just an idea. I'm sure you can find a dual 12 ported enclosure that will work somewhere online though.
