Default sub selection

I have a 1985 Mustang GT that I am wanting to do a system in... I want to keep weight down so I was thinking 2 8'' subs on 4-600 watts maybe more... I also want to keep the price down so I can spend money elsewhere on 'go fast' parts. I've been out of the Car audio scene for awhile so I'm looking for your guys' suggestions as to what's good right now. Also would like to do a mini amp as well. I was looking at the RE rex series but they just look really cheap to me and I don't like the terminals on them. I'm looking at p2 8's now because they look like they're only 10lbs each and seem to be made well. Also the subs will be going into a sealed box. I listen to everything from old country to gangster rap. Let me know what you guys think would be best! Thanks!

RE amps are junk
Audio Technix 400 1 Amp Amplifier 1 Ohm Mono Block Free 4 Gauge Wiring Kit | eBay

best bang for your buck amp there...proven to do near 600rms in a small package with a 4G kit included...and as for 8's them rockford P2 8's D4's would be a good match for that amp amp even comes with a remote clipping indicator and a plexi bottom so grab it while its good

Oops, I didn't mean that I was looking at an RE amp. I was talking about the rex series subs. I was looking at an RF amp because my buddy runs them and they can take a beating. But I will give that one that you posted a look for sure!

Yeah I ran 2 rex 10's a long time ago on a ****ty amp and they did okay but nothing very impressive. Those audio technix amps look pretty impressive and they look kind of 'old school' which would definitely fit with my car lol. I may just have to pick one of them up!

Sundown's look so good, but how much do they weigh? And how do they perform sealed? I debated one 10 or one 12 as well but I've always had better luck with 2 subs. It's just always sounded better to me.

Yeah I think I'm going to go with the RF's. I usually like having different brands than everyone around my area but I think they would best fit my application. I hate Kickers, and Alpines have always seemed overpriced to me for what they are.

What I need to do is buy a Tahoe and do something ignorant in it lol.

I'm wondering how the jbl 804s are, I've heard good things about them... I've just never cared for Rockford subs.

They are only single voice coils tho so you would need 400rms at 2 ohm....other than that they look good
