DC Lvl 5 or 6, depending on how you're using, or check out Tantric Sounds

Why not go with two (or more) smaller subs?

What sort of vehicle is this going in? And what's the electrical look like?

Ok, just don't attempt to run 5kw on sub-par electrical.

Your car is a hatchback, right? Why go through all the trouble of walling it, get a couple DC XL 12s and call it a day. It'll get nasty loud and won't take up all your space. More coil to handle the power, and it won't be such a PITA to install and build.

Just my $0.02 though...

Why not get an atomic audio sub 18in apx or apxx and keep it same brand but there tons of subs that will handle that I wouldn't get dc but that's just my opinion.

Well you should prolly just scroll the classifieds on caco and such if your not willing to pay retail on a sub that will take that kinna power and just choose from whats out there.

Look for any hi end sundown subs or hi end tantric subs is what I would personally start with like a 18''sundown nightshade sub or motor or or a tantric SHD sub something like that..to start

Just curious, but why?

4x12s are way more come area than 1x18

Plus they take up similar airspace, give or take depending on brand.

I'm just saying, it should be an option, better cooling, more cone area, no extra loss in space...

For a sub that can handle that much power your gunna have to spend top dollar...might as well get 2 lesser sub's at half that money each and be done with it

^this is what I was getting at. For subs that handle 2.5kw, it won't be cheap, but they won't be anything crazy. For a sub on 5kw daily, prepare to throw down money. A single DD 9918 is over $1300, a cost that would definitely cover two lower-power-handling subs.

Your statement of "2 15s more expensive then 1 18" is incorrect.

Default Re: Looking for sub that can handle 5000 watts rms

I can get a used 18 for cheaper then 2 used 15s of the same brand
I am looking to throw down serious money for something used, dd is definately on the lisst,

I had 2 2250 watt rms amps on a 9515d back in 2006, bassrace at 140 without touching a thing on the amps or head unit from the street. also best sounding sub i ever ran. gains were babied a bit tho.

I just like the idea of a huge 18 single sub just pounding away, ive had plenty of 15s in my day

my statement meant the same brand so it is correct.

Default Re: Looking for sub that can handle 5000 watts rms

1 x Sundown Team 18 - $1249
2 x Sundown Z v4 15 - $589ea ($1178 total)

1 x Fi Team 18 - $704
2 x Fi BL 15 - $324ea ($648 total)

More cone area, similar airspace requirements, and less cost?

Default Re: Looking for sub that can handle 5000 watts rms

If you want a single sub to put that much wattage to either get a team fi 18 or sundown team 18...but be ready to drop a big house note on it ...but most of us know that 2 lesser 15's would get louder and take the power better ...but if you must get a single 18 then we have given you choices

Think i may go with the new atomic apx 18 dual 1 ohm coil with the 4 inch coil, the price new is pretty damn good...

the apxx is now discontinued
