Sundown Audio SA-15 on 1400rms
 

Hey guys, well I just recently became amp-less as my hifi 1000.1D's transistors blew (4 of them) so i decided to go with something with a little more power.

Now i know the rated rms for a the SA's are 600. But i put 800 with my hifonics all day in the summer and it did fine. subs never stunk a bit.

so now i bought a Massive Audio N3
Massive Audio N3
is 1400@1 ohm. (i ran my hifi at 1 as well)

My question is:
Will the SA-15 hand 1400 on a BURP?

i will be pushing 1400 on burps only. daily i will have the level turned 1/2 to 3/4 of the way down. keeping my slopes the same.

Will this be safe?

burp only yes....for how many burps is unknown....as far as daily i wouldnt run any more tha 1k rms to it daily....at 1k you can go full tilt for a couple of songs till it gets good and hot....

you should be fine.

Sa's a GREAT for telling you they're getting too much power, whether its through smell or sound. I've tried to deliberately blow them several times but i've never been able to do it as the sub clearly tells me its too much power. If you smell it, turn it down. You didn't hurt it but back your gain down.

Awesome, I'll have to clamp my new amp and see how much I'm really getting out of it, maybe even mark my gain for daily and burp use.

It should be fine. Massive Amps seem to be a bit overrated. Have look at the next bigger model: Massive Audio Nano Block N4

The N3 should be comparable to Hollywood Excursion HXA2K

Wired to 1 ohm you shouldn't have a problem as long as you watch that clipping.
