its pretty easy imo. Basic electrical and mechanical since and an hour of time is all it takes
okay, well I've got my bulb size, 9006 is for the low beams. But does this mean that I no longer have actual low beams since these HIDs will put out so much more light? I know that they are aimed differently than the hi-beams but I'm curious. I don't need a fking DUI because some cop see me with bright lights and assumes they are my hi-beams and pulls me over one night.

No you will still have your lows. You will just have much more usable light to work with. But the biggest downside to HID's is glare. Which to combat this people tend to lower the lights a little below the stock height. Here's a look at mine. Kits were purchased at:

#1 Reseller of HID Conversion Kits and HID Kits since 2001!

I have 4300K for my lows and 3000K for my fogs with painted yellow lenses:

There not cheap but the quality and customer service of XenonDepot is one of the best out there. You'd be looking at $120... I may be able to get you a 25% off coupon code. I will have to talk to Steve... Can get you an answer later tonight. Generally if you aim your lights right and there not blue/purple cops won't bother you.

As for your highs. The reason you don't want HID's for highs:

1) Depends if you have DRL's that run on the highs. As HID's are designed for constant 12v. They do not run and can be damaged with lower voltage.
2) With HID's it takes time to warm up. So any kind of flashing can damage the bulbs.

I take it you wan't to have the most usable light. So I suggest either 4300K or 5000K as these are the highest lumen count you can get.

Most kits are PNP (plug and play) and are very easy to install into your vehicle. You can expect 30min to 1hour depending on how easy it is to get to your bulbs. Feel free to PM me with any more questions... I should be back from classes around 4 and should have an answer for you

Thanks for the info that help a lot! Yeah the $120 volt HID kit seems legit and I would go with 4300k. I would really appreciate it if you could get me that discount too :P

Thanks man! If I can get that discount the I will buy them for sure. Hell, maybe I'll retrofit while I'm at it lol. Although, I did read something on a Grand Prix forum where a guy said he had to cut into his frame to get something to fit. Not sure how I feel about that lol.

Want to make a correction is a $25 discount not 25%... But if you go with the retrofit kit I showed you then you will most likely not have to do a lot of cutting at all... The guys over there would know more and could tell you a kit that would look nice and require little to no cutting at all... But if you go that route the HID kit is included in the price

Cool, I'll shoot them an e-mail. Cause if I'm about to spend money on my headlights I might as well get exactly what I want haha.

I'll be paying close attention to this. Just realized they are 9006's, which I also have. You better post pics of this. At 280 it really isn't that expensive. Oem projectors are probably at least that price.

Default Re: Help me choose some new headlights

garage doors or a straight white wall are purrrrrfect

take a before pic and an after pic at the same location at night

straight walls really help with fine tuning the alignment too, cuz you can easily see which way the projectors are turned

FX-Rs have nicer uniformity/output..of course, if you're willing to do a bit more work with the retro.

I'll recommend retrofitting all day, but that's because I'm running an S2000 retro in my xB. Probably one of the best investments I've made. I can light up an entire 6 lanes of interstate. Super wide and intense beam.
However, since you're on a budget... I'd opt for OEM replacements. Try to find some in a junkyard and go from there. Maybe google search people that actually restore headlights, get an estimate for repair, and maybe ship them to them. You'll be out a Car for a little bit, but OEM maintains a higher level of product quality than those halo/LEDs everywhere headlights found on eBay.
Another option for retrofitting would be the Morimoto mini projectors. They're pretty economical and they'll perform very well.

Oh crap. I didn't notice that you already pulled the trigger on some stuff.

Some of the kits that polish the lenses kind of suck. May see if anyone does it locally, professionally. That will definitely help out a lot. For the most part, they use a buffer and specific pad and compounds. They should be able to take care of it for you.
