Default Remote starter pricing

What would you consider a fair price for a two way remote start installed? The price would be with all parts and labor included.

The price would include interface modules, relays and labor without regard to vehicle type.

I'm not looking for a specific brand, just assume it would be a big name manufacturer.

What would be a tasty advertised flat price?

I don't think I would be shooting myself in the foot.

I am talking about a basic two way, no GPS and no security system. I've sold/installed many remote starts over the years and yes there are a few vehicles that are tougher than others, but by and large there are few that really consume more time than others.

Sure, you get screwed sometimes. I recently spent three days on a Car and on the phone with the interface manufacturer who was unaware that their firmware didn't work and the engineer re wrote it for me (thank god). That's really rare though.

In looking at consumers in general their major frustration with remote starts is pricing. They don't understand why their 2012 QX56 is so much more expensive to do than their neighbors 2010 Kia Forte'. They don't care. Further more they have a hard time paying $250 for something that can be had on the internet for $49. They don't read the small print and realize they get no factory warranty. They don't understand what an interface module is or why they might need it. That's why I'm considering blanket pricing, to keep it simple for consumers.

I think $350 might be a reasonable place to start. One could make a few stipulations, but keep them very simple like:

Pricing doesn't apply to manual tranny vehicles

Pricing doesn't apply to vehicles that require two interface modules(very rare)

i would look on sonic. you said you dont want a alarm so why not just get the alarm module with the remote start. and not use the alarm?

i dnt see why remote starts would be any different from brand to brand other than distance all they do is send Power to the starter and once they get a reading from the tac they quit sending power.

That's one of the sites that confuses people. Take for example the Viper 4204v. Average retail is $299 installed at retailers. Add to that $150 worth of interface modules and parts/labor. So what comsumers see is $450 for somthing Sonic sells for $159.99. It's confusing to them.

$350 is very reasonable IMO... I paid just under $400 (remote start/alarm, manual tran, parts labor, installation)... And I'm glad I went this route as I also had issues with firmware... for my specific vehicle there were upwards to 50 variations to the firmware... Of course Honda sent me the wrong one... Manufacture couldn't figure it out until they dug real deep and found the solution...

Was it for the 06 Civic in your profile? Those cars have well established firmware and should pose no problem even with a manual tranny.
